It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 6/22/20

Not a heck of a lot going on in my life.  My husband has been furloughed since March 20-something and he just found out he'd be going back on June 30th. We have also decided that within the next month or so, we're going to finally add a new family member - a furry one- dog specifically.  My son is beyond excited and so am I.

What I read last week:

Last week, I read Ghost of Sanju, My Vanishing Country, and The Hero Two Doors Down.

What I am reading now:

I am currently reading another e-ARC of Cowboy Strong and my current audiobook is I Can Make a Promise

Up next:

I'm going to join Amazon's KindleUnlimited this month; they have a special offer due to the pandemic of 2 month free trial offer until the end of the month, so I'm not positive what I'll be choosing next.  They also have books through this, that you also listen to on audible.  I love doing this offer once or twice a year.  The rest of the year. I'm happy to just listen through Overdrive and now my library also has Hoopla available to us, although only 4 books a month.

My state has finally entered Phase 3 and more things have been opening up! I finally got a haircut on Frriday.  Now, I'm just waiting for my hair salon to do more than haircuts; I need to get it colored so badly!

I'm currently reading Breakfast at the Honey Creek Café by Jodi Thomas and I listening to The Inn at Hidden Run by Olivia Newport

I just finished listening to The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

Next up for listening will be The Girl from the Train by Irma Joubert and My next read will most likely be Ghost of Sangju by Soojung Jo. The latter will probably not be until early next week.

It's Monday, What Are You Reading? 5/18/20

I'm still quarantining; my state still has their stay at home order in place, although we are now in Stage 2 and on target for Stage 3. I never realized what a homebody I was.

What I read last week:

Last week, I read Escape by Carolyn Jessop, and I listened to And Then They Stopped Talking to Me by Judith Warner, Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ririe Brink and An Author's Odyssey by Chris Colfer. I started reading An Author's Odyssey, but I wasn't enjoying it the way I had the others in the series, so I decided to listen to it since the audiobook was available on Overdrive through my library

What I am reading now:

I just DNF'd last night my current read A Fine Line: How Most American Kids Are Kept Out of the Best Public Schools, but this morning I picked up The Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf

Up next:

I'm literally only a couple pages into The Weight of Silence, but I think next I will read Breakfast at the Honey Creek Cafe by Jodi Thomas, since I have it as n e-ARC and it comes out at the end of the month. And later today, I'll start listening to Ethnic America by Thomas Sowell.

I'm hoping it will be another productive week.  Also, lets hope for no rain; yesterday, we had a drenching rain all day.The ground is saturated; we've got some water in our basement.  Have you read or want to read any of these books

My Favorite Book This Month

I had an a very good reading month again; even better than last month.  I had 3  5 star books, 3  4 star books, and 3  3 star books. It was a littlr difficult, but I'd have to ay The Blackbird Girls came out on top this month, I couldn't wait to get back to it .  The story was incredibly engaging and informative.  I'm so glad to have read it!

Least Favorite Book

None of my books were under 3 stars, but I think Viva Durant and the Secret of the Silver Buttons was the lowest-ranked

What are you currently reading?  I'm still reading Daring to Drive by Manal Al-Sharif, but I'll finish this on Thursday, possibly even Wednesday, since I have only 30% left to finish.

What did you recently finish?  I just finished My Kind of Wonderful by Jill Shavis on audiobook  earlier today.  I tried listening to Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay, but I think I'll read this one instead; it seems they alternate viewpoints between WWII France and modern day and it was a bit confusing, but I think reading it will be much better and I've heard so many good things about it.

What do you think you'll read next?  I think I'll pick up the ARC, The Life She Was Given by Ellen Marie Wiseman and my next audiobook will be The Passenger by Lisa Lutz.

What are you currently reading?  I almost forgot today was Wednesday, all due to the holiday, it messed up my sense of time,  I am currently reading Daring to Drive by Manal Al-Sharif,  I literally just finished my audiobook.  So not listening to anything at this time.

What did you recently finish?  I just finished a few minutes ago Yes, Chef by Marcus Samuelsson.  I also finished the audiobook, By Starlight by Dorothy Garlock and the ARC, Reading With Patrick: A Teacher, A Student, and A Life-Changing Friendship by Michelle Kuo.

What do you think you'll read next?  I'm still pretty early into Daring to Drive, but I'm planning to pick up the ARC, The Bookshop at Water's End by Patti Callahan Henry.  I think I may start listening to Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay.

What are you currently reading?  I am currently reading an ARC of Somebody's Baby by Donna Alward.  I am enjoying it.  It has a dog in it and the guy is a veterinarian, so that's a plus in my book. Its. the 3rd book in a series and didn't know when I read it, but I seem to be having no trouble getting into the story Also, I just started listening to My Beloved World by Sonia Sotomayor.  I'm only 6% into it, but so far I'm enjoying it.  The narrator is Rita Moreno, who I'm really liking.

What did you recently finish reading?  I finally finished an ARC of The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane by Lisa See.  I have to admit, I was disappointed in it. I absolutely love her books, but this one was not quite what I was hoping for.

What do you think you’ll read next? I had a library book come in on my library's Overdrive, The Land of Stories: The Enchantress Returns by Chris Colfer.  I lobed the first book in the series when I read it in January and am hoping for another winner. I haven't had that much luck lately reading great books, so we will see how it goes.

What are you currently reading? 

I'm just over 20% into Coal River by Ellen Marie Wiseman, but I an definitely enjoying this one.  I got this one from the library in softcover, which I rarely do; I usually prefer to read books on my Kindle, but it wasn't available in the Kindle format. I just started the audiobook, Stupid White Men by Michael Moore.  I got in from the library at least a week ago, but just have not been in the mood  to listen to an audiobook.

What did you recently finish reading?

Last week, I participated in #TBRTakedown.  I finished 3 books during this readathon, which is really rare.  I usually read a book a week or so.  I finished an ARC of Sunset Canyon by Janet Dailey, El Deafo by Cece  Bell, which is a middle grade graphic novel (the 1st I ever read), and A Dog's Purpose by W. Bruce Cameron.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Well, once I finish listening to Stupid White Men, I'll be listening to the audiobook, The Reluctant Midwife by Patricia Harman, which just became available on Overdrive.  I think I'll read the ARC, When You Never Said Goodbye: An Adoptee's Search for Her Birth Mother: A Novel in Poems and Journal Entries  by Meg Kearney since according to NetGalley  it is being released next week, but Goodreads gives its release date as a month later.  Since I am trying to read a book by the publication date and for the last 2 months, I've been successful.  (Let's not discuss my extremely large number of ARCs that I am backlogged on ).

Book Beginning on Friday / Friday 56

I am reading this as an ARC on my Kindle,  From the very beginning of the book:

Page 56: However he argued with himself that I was too young and my father was too protective, to allow it, in any case.  Otherwise he would have made a bid for my hand that very day, his own wedding to Agnes be damned.

I have seen a lot of mixed reviews on this book, so we will see what I think.

What are you currently reading?

I'm reading from the library .  I only have about 20 pages left, so I should finish this sometime today.

I'm listening to   and should be finished with this in another hour.

Also, I have started  on my Kindle,  I've received this as an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher.  It was just published on Tuesday, January 10th.

What did you just finish?

The last book that I finished and the first book that I  read in 2017 was  , which I blogged about here.  I've had a couple books that I DNF'd this year.  Hopefully, I'll get rid of DNF'ing books all at once.

What do you think you'll read next?

My next audiobook will be .  It just became available this morning on Overdrive, perfect timing.

I'm just going to finish the 2 books that I'm reading and will decide later what I'm reading next closer to that time.  Of course, I'm going to the library today or tomorrow and since my library often has new  or relatively new releases available, who knows.
