The Book Blogger Hop/Book Beginnings/ The Friday 56 4/28/2017

This week, I started participating in something new, The Book Blogger Hop.  It is hosted by Ramblings of A Coffee-Addicted Writer.and more info can be found here. Essentially a book-related question is posted each Friday

Friday 56 is hosted at Freda's Voice and Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. The idea is to share a sentence or so from the first page and the 56th page of the book you are currently reading!  Also, I will now also include a brief synopsis.

This week's Book Blogger Hop's question.
How many books have you re-read? If you have re-read books, please tell us the book's title and why you re-read it.

Other than the children's books that I've read to my son, I don't really re-read books.  I did last year re-read a book that I had originally read back in the 90s, but that was mainly because the author, Rosanne Bittner in the last few years decided to make a series out of
her original book, Outlaw Hearts and I wanted to re-read it, since it had been so long since I had read it that I assumed I would have forgotten some of the details.  I am considering sometime in the future re-reading the Little House series, since one, that's probably one of the books/book series that really made me love reading and two, I know I never ended up reading all of them, but I'm not quite sure, where I left off

I'm still reading the same book I mentioned in last week's  Book Beginnings and Friday 56, so this week I'll highlight the book that I just mentioned above.

Outlaw Hearts (Outlaw Hearts, #1)

A Brief Synopsis:  A decades long love story of two people, united by chance, that proves love's lasting power and its ability to overcome all oddsMiranda Hayes has lost everything-her family, her husband, her home. Orphaned and then widowed, desperate to find a safe haven, she sets out to cross a savage land alone...until chance brings her face-to-face with notorious gunslinger Jake Harkner.

Hunted by the law and haunted by a brutal past, Jake has spent a lifetime fighting for everything he has. He's never known a moment's kindness...until fate brings him to the one woman willing to reach past his harsh exterior to the man inside. He would die for her. He would kill for her. He will do whatever it takes to keep her his.

Spanning the dazzling West with its blazing deserts and booming gold towns, Jake and Miranda must struggle to endure every hardship that threatens to tear them apart. But the love of an outlaw comes with a price...and even their passion may not burn bright enough to conquer the coming darkness.

Beginning of the Book

April 1866
Miranda tried to ignore her father still-fresh grave as she flicked the reins and goaded the drafty horses into a slightly faster gait.  This was not a time to crumble.  She had to face facts.  Her father was dead and her worthless brother was somewhere in Nevada, totally oblivious to the hardships his father and sister had faced these last months.

Page 56

After all, it was a Mexican name, and Jake Harkner most certainly had some kind of Spanish or Indian blood in him.  Still, he surely wouldn't call his mother by her first name.  Was she a woman he had loved?  Was Jake Harkner capable of caring for someone that much.

    1. Re-reading is definitely an extremely thing for me. Too many books, too little time and I have too long of a TBR.

  3. Sounds like it could be good. I reread books often. It helps me relax when I can't decide which book to read next.

    1. If you enjoy historical romance; Rosanne Bittner is a very good author. I use to read her all the time, but that was before I branched out my tastes in reading. I still enjoy her lots, I just wish there was more time.

  5. This sounds like a good read. I really like the teasers you shared and historical romance is a genre I've really gotten back into reading. I do like to reread though it's mostly to revisit characters.

    1. I don't read as much historical romance as I use to, but I'm usually a lot fussier what I read now than I use to also, especially when it comes to historical romance.

  7. A book series that got you started reading is definitely worth re-reading.

Reading is something I don't know what I would do without. Wonderful you are back. I was on a hiatus for a while and am so glad I am back. :)

Definitely have re-read books to my son when he was small - most likely hundreds of times. :)

Thanks for your great answer, and Happy Hopping!!

    1. Thanks for coming by. I know what you mean I couldn't imagine not being able to read. I feel sorry for people who hate reading or just never read for whatever reason. They just never found that one book that drew them in and made reading a fun and magical experience.

  8. I love revisiting old favourites after a long time apart. It's always interesting to go back to something that originally got you interested in reading to see if it can stand the test of time.

  13. This is really nice. I forgot about the books I read to my 8-year old. With that in mind, I guess I do more rereading that I thought.

  14. I have to admit that I steer clear of books with covers like these. I know I should give them a fair chance; the snippets do sound interesting!

    1. I know I like the much more subdued cover also. Luckily, I read these now on my Kindle, so no one sees the cover.

  15. I couldn't even count the number of children's books I have re-read, especially in the last six years. Haha!

I am not a big re-reader otherwise either. I keep books with the intention of re-reading them sometimes, but that time hasn't come yet. Maybe when I retire . . .

I hope you have a wonderful week!
